Dr. A. Zachary Faison, Jr. recognized as one the Nation’s Best Lawyers & Legal Advocates
Edward Waters College’s President-Elect, Dr. A. Zachary Faison, Jr. has been selected by the National Bar Association (NBA) as one of the nation’s top 40 attorneys under the age of 40. Dr. Faison was recognized by the NBA for exemplifying a broad range of high achievement, including innovation, vision, leadership, and exceptional legal and community involvement. The recipients will be honored at the National Bar Association’s renowned 40 Under 40 Awards Gala on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, during the NBA’s 93rd Annual Convention in New Orleans, LA.
“As one of the preeminent bar associations in the world, these specific awards given annually recognize the 40 lawyers under 40 who help advance the causes of justice, equality, professionalism and community service,” said Juan Thomas, NBA President. “We look forward to observing even more substantive work from the awardees in the future, including continued involvement in matters that create new legal and innovative initiatives, enhance access to justice for all citizens, and improve community service. We believe each of this year’s recipients will continue to advance flashes of the same level of leadership, activism and professional acumen shown by our past and current group of NBA leaders,” he said.
Final selections for the 2018 NBA 40 under 40 represented a cross-section of legal professionals, including lawyers from big, medium and small firms, solo and industry practitioners, government lawyers, judges, academicians, corporate counsels, young elected officials, and various other lawyers, all of whom are using their juris doctor degree in innovative and community impacting ways. Voting ends on July 9, 2018
During the August 1, 2018, Black-tie Awards Gala in New Orleans, recipients of the Nation’s Best Advocate of the Year and the Excellence in Leadership, Service, Activism, and Innovation awards will be announced.
Recipients of these awards will be selected based on the following: 1) cumulative voting using the voting platform on the NBA website; 2) review of the original packages submitted; and 3) voting by the selection committee. These three areas will be appropriately weighted to select the five recipients.
