What is CLIMB and CLIMB:ONLINE ?

The CLIMB and CLIMB:ONLINE programs are nontraditional programs in Edward Waters College’s Division of Professional Programs, serving adults ages 23 and older who have already completed one and a half or more years of college with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better, and who now would like to complete their bachelor's degree.

CLIMB stands for Credentials for Leadership In Management and Business.

CLIMB Program adult learners typically are employed full-time during the day; thus the program is offered in the evening or blended online.  One night per week over an eighteen-month period provides the adult learner with the opportunity to earn 48 semester hours of credit in class and receive additional semester hours in credit for prior learning.  Classes are taught in a manner that is conducive to adult learners.  An atmosphere of shared family, career, and age interests develops a strong bond among CLIMB students.

The optional, blended online version, CLIMB:ONLINE,
is available in the fall of 2008 and converts the weekly night of class into a week of online education.  The first night of each module is in the classroom, and the remaining four weeks are delivered online.  It provides the same excellence in education, but is designed for individuals who require the increased flexibility that online education provides.

While in the CLIMB Program, adult learners are expected to spend 15-20 hours in preparation for each weekly class meeting.  Adult learners who succeed in the CLIMB Program are self-directed and goal-oriented individuals.

The CLIMB Program enables adult learners to develop:
  • interpersonal skills
  • written and oral communication skills
  • problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • understanding of research techniques and applications
  • self-knowledge and self-image growth
  • self-reliance and leadership skills

Academic Calendar

The CLIMB Program operates on a semester hour basis with five to six groups of adult learners beginning each year, typically in September through November and February through May.  Each group takes approximately eighteen months to complete the program and operates on a year-round basis.  Cohorts are given a schedule that indicates on which dates the group will meet over the eighteen-month period of enrollment.
